Amid shutdown and poll boycott, Anantnag records 13.61 voter turnout

A complete shutdown was observed across Kashmir against alleged ill-treatment to Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik by National Investigation Agency (NIA).

According to reports, shops and business establishments and most of the educational institutions were closed, classwork in university of Kashmir also remained affected.

Heavy security arrangements were made across sensitive areas mostly in Anantnag district, where third phase of poling recorded 13.67% voter turnout.

Apart from public transport, train services between Banihal and Baramulla also remain suspended for security reasons.
